The original intention of the transformer design is that due to the rapid evolution of modern audio equipment, the sound source signal has become stronger and stronger, and the impedance is getting higher and higher. The advantage of designing such a sound source is that the preamp can provide more powerful. Impedance input to the downstream equipment, high impedance can better drive the rear stage, which is why the US Wars pre-input cattle products are mostly high-impedance, so that the role of the power amplifier can be better played. Looking at a small transformer, its impedance transformation is recognized as the most effective conversion scheme available, which not only acts as an impedance transform, but also enhances signal coupling and purifies the sound source.
The advantage of using EI35's new 85% nickel-containing permalloy core is that the 35-wire window is larger than 25 and can be wound with a thicker enameled wire. This is not possible with small transformers such as 25, and if the signal is too strong, it can pass the current capability and the level is high for large-level signals. It is easy to cause 25-core audio transformers to produce severe distortion due to magnetic saturation (especially in low-band signals), which is unacceptable for demanding enthusiasts. However, the EI35 permalloy-wound transformer can solve this problem.
